There are 5 major geographic (physiographic) regions of Georgia. That is: the Piedmont, the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Valley and Ridge, the Appalachian plateau, and the costal plain. Under is the 5 major geographic regions of Georgia described.

It begins in the mountain foothills in north Georgia and goes to the central part of the state. This are usually is made up of gently sloping hills with about half of the state population within the Piedmont region. Also has our state capital Atlanta within the Piedmont too.

The Blue Ridge Mountains
This is located in the northeaster part of the state of Georgia, it has the highest and largest mountains in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Fun Fact: This area is good for growing vegetables and apples.

The Valley and Ridge
This area is located in between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Appalachian Plateau, there are large ridges of rocks that leads into valley. "Hint, hint" why it is called The Valley and Ridge, with that aside, this area is mostly known for its industry, as well as its good farmland and apple orchard too.

The Appalachian plateau
The Appalachian Plateau has the smallest geographic region in Georgia, and it is located in the northwestern corner of the state. There are plateaus as well as valleys in this area, because of this, it attract nature lovers to view its large waterfalls and rock formations.

The Costal Plain
This is the largest region of the state of Georgia, it has two parts within its category, that is the Inner Coastal Plain and the Outer Coastal Plain. The Inner Coastal Plain is inside of the state as the Outer Coastal Plain takes up the outer swampland areas of the state.
